Board Secretary

We are seeking a dedicated volunteer with experience in administration and Board minute-keeping to join our team. Ideal Volunteer will have:
Administrative Experience: Previous involvement with Board meetings or similar administrative tasks.
Knowledge of Google Docs and Electronic Filing: Proficiency in using Google Docs for document preparation and electronic filing systems.
Audio-Visual Technology Skills: Specialist knowledge in audio-visual technology is a plus, as it may become relevant in future meetings.
Strong English Language Skills: Good reading, writing, and spelling abilities in English. Additional languages are a bonus.

Availability: Board meetings are held once a month, on the last Saturday from 10:30 am to around noon. Preparation of agendas and formal minutes can be done remotely.

Refugee Support Volunteer (RSV)

We need volunteers to help refugee families to become settled and independent. Advocacy, Befriending, Driving (clients), Driving (e.g. courier), Family Support (e.g. refugees), Mentoring, Shopping, Visiting.

Volunteers need to be available to attend the two days of the training sessions to meet the requirements for becoming a Refugee Support Volunteer. If, however, there is a day that they cannot attend either the weekday or weekend training sessions, then there will be face-to-face or online catch-up sessions when they can make up a session time.

Location: Levin

Dates/Hours: Minimum of 2 hours per week. Maximum of 8 hours per week.

Training dates:
Weekday: Tuesday 17 & Wednesday 18 September (9.30am – 3.00pm both days)
Weekend: Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 September (9.30am – 3.00pm both days)

We need a volunteer to help us to keep Policy & Procedures documents up to date. This role involves assisting with administrative tasks and updating the Operations Document, essential for all RDAs nationwide. Training provided to applicant upon completion of Police Report.

Publicity/Communications

We need a volunteer to assist in publishing a bi-monthly newsletter, managing media relations, drafting press releases, and coordinating advertising as needed for a not-for-profit organisation that provides equine therapy sessions to people with disabilities. Familiarity with social media platforms and the ability to relate well to members in this field are essential. Following a police check and acceptance, volunteers will undergo an induction course to familiarise themselves with our facilities, procedures, policies, and duties.

Do you have experience with horses and enjoy working with children and young people who have disabilities? We're searching for a volunteer coach to help these kids ride horses and build their confidence. Training starts after a police check, and we cover course fees. We ask that you commit for a certain period. Teaching experience is helpful, but not required. Once accepted, you'll receive an induction program.

We are looking for friendly drivers to operate our resident van. A valid, clean driver’s license and a police check are essential. No lifting of residents is involved, and the role can be shared.

Volunteers are matched with residents for regular visits and companionship. Activities can range from a simple chat or sharing a cup of tea, to reading a book or going for a short walk together - whatever best suits the resident. No lifting of residents is required, and a police vetting check is necessary.
