HISTORY

Where everything started

Volunteer Resource Centre - Manawatu & Districts (VRC) is a charitable trust established in 2005 to develop a volunteer centre in the region. The doors first opened on 24th June 2010, aiming to connect the community through volunteering. Ten years later, VRC took on the new identity of Volunteer Central to consolidate the direction the centre has taken. In 2022, we continued our development to incorporate and acknowledge our partnership responsibilities in the Treaty of Waitangi, as a result, Whatunga Tūao | Volunteer Central was born.

TEAM AND BOARD

Operational & Strategic

Whatunga Tūao | Volunteer Central has two paid staff and a team of committed volunteers to provide the service. The service is supported by an amazing board of volunteers who focus on service strategy.

MISSION, VISION AND VALUES

Why we do what we do

  • Mission: Moving volunteering to front-of-mind.
  • Vision: Create a volunteering legacy built around people and quality.
  • Values: Inclusivity (We will welcome everyone), Integrity (We do what and when we say), Reputation (Quality, not quantity is our mantra), and Relationships (We believe in the strength of sharing and working together. People first).

“No one can do everything,
but everyone can do something.”
