We assist organisations to achieve their goals by developing roles, supporting the recruitment of suitable volunteers, offering training and making relevant information and connections available.
We connect the community through events and activities. We raise awareness about volunteering and we celebrate volunteers through recognition events. We make information available through Social Media, Newsletters, and our website.
We empower people to achieve the best they can by creating connections to the community, to a purpose, to new opportunities and challenges. We help find new ways to thrive through volunteering.
Thank you all so much for connecting us with such beautiful people, who simply want to help make a difference. We would certainly not be able to do our work in the local community if it wasn't for them.
Thank you for this beautiful and heart warming newsletter. Just love your thinking of inclusion ...something I am passionate about. Great read.
Just want to say a huge thank you, thank you for arranging the 3 volunteers for me on the Monday...at the very last minute too. You and your team are Awesome

Where everything started
Volunteer Resource Centre - Manawatu & Districts (VRC) is a charitable trust established in 2005 to develop a volunteer centre in the region. The doors first opened on 24th June 2010, aiming to connect the community through volunteering. Ten years later, VRC took on the new identity of Volunteer Central to consolidate the direction the centre has taken. In 2022, we continued our development to incorporate and acknowledge our partnership responsibilities in the Treaty of Waitangi, as a result, Whatunga Tūao | Volunteer Central was born.
“No one can do everything,
but everyone can do something”.
