Support Volunteers

We empower people to achieve the best they can by creating connections to the community, to a purpose, to new opportunities and challenges. We help find new ways to thrive through volunteering.

Support Organisations

We assist organisations to achieve their goals by developing roles, supporting the recruitment of suitable volunteers, offering training and making relevant information and connections available.

Create Opportunities

We connect the community through events and activities. We raise awareness about volunteering and we celebrate volunteers through recognition events. We make information available through Social Media, Newsletters, and our website.

Our organisation

History

Where everything started

Volunteer Resource Centre - Manawatu & Districts (VRC) is a charitable trust established in 2005 to develop a volunteer centre in the region. The doors first opened on 24th June 2010, aiming to connect the community through volunteering. Ten years later, VRC took on the new identity of Volunteer Central to consolidate the direction the centre has taken.

Team and Board

Operational & Strategic

Volunteer Central has two managers and a coordinator that oversee all operational activities across the region. The board has six amazing members working on service strategy. Twenty office volunteers complete this united team working to support our communities through volunteering.

Mission, Vision and Values

Why we do what we do

We promote and support Volunteering in our communities, aiming to create and develop opportunities for individuals, groups and services to grow. We wish to enrich the lives of those we connect with. We value Integrity, Partnership, Diversity and Whakawhanaugatanga.

“No one can do everything,

but everyone can do something”.
