#02029- Driver for Meals on Wheels



We're looking for friendly volunteer drivers to deliver meals in Palmerston North.  Our Meals on Wheels service supports the elderly, ill, and disabled people living at home who would otherwise struggle to provide healthy meals for themselves. We need volunteers keen to deliver hot meals, and stop for a friendly chat, with people in need in the community. There are multiple options for how frequently you volunteer – you can be on-call, on a roster once every five weeks, or as many times as you like!  Volunteers also need their own vehicles.

Second Monday of the month

1pm to 3pm

Person to undertake general secretarial duties for a PN based support group. Will be required to take minutes, write up, and send out minutes and agendas, assist with reporting/letter sending. Meet the second Monday of each month from 1 - 3 at a support group members house.

To be the main point of contact for Gardening Volunteers, providing advice and guidance around the gardens at the Hospice.  To liase with Director for gardeening budget and purchase of new plants and equipment. Work with Volunteers to organise the gardens and talk through ideas/plans of the day. Induct new gardening volunteers using the Gardening Volunteer Induction Form to guide orientation.

We are seeking someone with a financial background to join our board. A community focused person with previous governance experience and knowledge of the Social Services sector would also be an advantage but not essential. Board meetings are held bi-monthly, usually on a Thursday afternoon from 12.30-1.30pm. This role does not have a significant time commitment and any necessary tasks can usually be completed in one-two hours per month during business hours.

Opportunity to volunteer in a store that stocks and distributes free products to the community.  Tasks will be as follows: 
•    Moving product off and on pallets to gather orders for groups. 
•    Preparing pallet wrap and plastic packaging for recycling.
•    Maintaining general tidiness at the warehouse. 
•    Assisting in the loading of product into vehicles.  
•    Using pallet jack and walking forklift to move and stack pallets.
•    Recording product location data and product transfer data.

Hospital Hosts are here to welcome people to Palmerston North hospital and to help them find their way.  This support will include a warm welcome for patients, whanau, family, help with directions or escorting people to appointments, assisting people in need, helping keep public areas tidy and welcoming, assisting with the evacuation of people from the building during a fire alarm and other tasks agreed with the coordinator.

Creative workshop assistant


Palmerston North based weekend arts and crafts group providing free opportunities for people to gather for company and artistic interest on the third Saturday of each month from March to December each year. Volunteers assist in gathering local resources eg wood, pinecones, seed pods, and any materials able to be used for craft, and/or assist in the running of the workshops through providing companionship and skill development to keep people engaged and active in their community.

Identify with Trust or administrator the grants available in each year. Develop a funding plan with dates. Create a transparent system to show funds received and banked. Accept donations and pass on to administration. If there are concerns with the Health and Safety at TWK, please report it to the administrator. Inform or check with the senior Volunteer on duty or the Administrator if you are unsure of any thing. Provide support for other activities if able. Work with administrator to ensure tasks are complete and the Trustees informed in a monthly financial report.
